Intimate Michigan Wedding | Backyard Wedding Inspiration

Get ready to see another stunning, intimate Michigan wedding that I photographed recently!

Rachel and PJ were one of many couples in 2020 who were forced to change their wedding plans due to COVID-1. They had originally planned to have a huge wedding in November of 2020 with all of their friends and family. But because of the pandemic that hit out of nowhere, as we all know, that couldn’t happen anymore.

Instead of a large wedding in the fall, they pushed their wedding up to August. And they decided to celebrate in a family’s backyard! Backyard weddings are totally underrated, in my opinion. So it worked out really well in the end despite it being a pain in the butt to change all their plans!

The Backyard Wedding Day

The whole wedding day was so much fun, and was so intimate and special. Because of the small guest size and the fact that they held the wedding in a backyard, the day was able to flow naturally and be super laid-back. I absolutely love that about backyard weddings. Since you’re not at a venue that might have certain time limitations, you can let the day flow as it is. No need to worry about running behind or cleaning up by midnight afterward! You can relax and spend more time enjoying the moment!!

The small amount of guests that Rachel and PJ did have were a total blast, too. Even with such a small group, the dance floor was poppin’ and they all really knew how to break it down!

Rachel and PJ are going to try and have a bigger celebration this year with all of their guests, since they couldn’t do it last year. But who knows what will happen with COVID by this summer! I’m just so glad that they were so flexible. Despite their plans getting flipped totally upside down, they were still able to have such a special wedding day. Congrats Rachel and PJ!!
