I am SO honored I got to photograph Danica & Johnny’s intimate destination wedding!! Their lakeside Florida wedding will make you want to get married in the warm weather ASAP.

The Love Story

Ahhh my favorite part of being a wedding photographer – getting to hear couples’ love stories + how they met! And these two have one that’s straight out of a rom-com.

Johnny and Danica are some REAL good people. These two, who are both super adventurous and from opposite sides of the country (Oklahoma + Alaska) met at a wakeboard camp back in 2014! They got along great but were just friends from there. After 6 years of minimally staying in touch, Johnny was on a cross-country road trip and was passing through Danica’s town (or close enough to have a good excuse to stop by ha!). He reached out to catch up with an old friend. From what they told me, it was one dinner and a few text convos and they both were stopped in their tracks!! After a couple trips to visit each other after this one encounter, they knew right away they had found their life partner!

So just a few short months after meeting again, they knew they didn’t want to wait any longer to commit to lifetime together of love, travels, and adventure. Johnny proposed in the snowy mountains of Alaska – and spoiler alert, she said yes!! And that’s when the plans for their Florida wedding started to come about.

They didn’t want to wait very long to get married, so they got right to planning. With both of them having families from all over, they decided to gather their closest family + friends in Florida. They traveled in from Alaska & Oklahoma to celebrate these two in style! And no joke: the property they held their wedding at was one of their wakeboard coaches’ property – one of the coaches who was there when everything began!! Told ya it was right out of a Nicholas Sparks rom-com!!

The Florida Wedding

It turned out to be the most PERFECT February Florida day. Danica & Johnny got married overlooking a gorgeous private lake in central Florida on a day with just beautiful weather. They danced the night away in the most gorgeous, secluded marshy/woodsy wakeboarding training pond (it all comes back to wakeboarding!!). This woodsy reception location was the most unexpectedly perfect spot that just screamed Danica and Johnny! At the reception, the mic opened up for anyone to come share a toast- guys I’ve never heard more loving, sweet and fun stories about a pair. Sooo many people shared so much love and laughter. It was truly so moving! God was so clearly at the absolute center of this celebration and in their new marriage.

Plus, we ate ALLL of the tacos from a local taco truck (BEST DAY EVER) and broke it downnnn on the dance floor all night long. Let me tell you, their families can bust some MOVESSS!!
